Le ré-entrainement aérobie chez les enfants asthmatiques

Abstract : Introduction: Asthma is one of the most common chronic lung diseases. Children with asthma have a general reduction in activity level leading to a sendentary lifestyle and exercise deconditioning. In order to counter this process, re-training could be an interesting solution. Objective: To demonstrate the effectiveness or not of aerobic exercises re-training on asthmatic children Research Methodology: The inclusion criteria’s were : children (under 18) with asthma (regardless of severity) with a PEDro score greater than or equal to 5/10 of any nationality. The judgment criteria defined : pulmonary functions with measurement of FEV and FVC, the quality of life of children with asthma and the ability to manage an asthma attack. In this review, 6 articles were included fulfilling criteria. Results and analyses: 3 articles present therapeutic efficacy on the judgment criteria. The training is continuous aerobic in a population of children with moderate to severe asthma. However, therapies were added to the treatment, limiting the exploitation of results. 3 articles don’t show any effectiveness. The training is intermittent aerobic in children with light asthma. Discussion: The effectiveness of treatment by intermittent aerobic re-training in mild asthma cannot be asserted due to lack of statistical significance. Continuous aerobic retraining shows better efficacy in children with moderate to severe asthma. These data should be qualified due to the lack of subjects included, which limits the generalization of the results.
