Étude des facteurs de risque du syndrome de l'épaule du nageur

Abstract : Context: Swimming is a very popular activity which requires to use our upper limbs as means of transport in water. The swimmer’s shoulder syndrome is a very common pathology for these athletes. More than a third of swimmers suffer one day from a shoulder avoiding them to continue their training for a time. The main symptom is the pain. Some lesions are often associated to this pain. The study of risk factor is necessary in the sports world to prevent a hypothetical injury slowing down their evolution. Objective: To identify risk factor for the swimmer’s shoulder syndrome. Participants: Swimmers who participate or have participated to competition. Methods: To realize our study we have done some researches in various data bases like PubMed, PEDro, Cochrane Library, KinéDoc and Google Scholar. Thank to these researches we have found a selection of papers eligible for our review. We have determined some inclusion and exclusion criteria to select with precision our articles. Results: At the end of our selection, we had a sample of 4 scientific papers: 3 prospective cohort studies and 1 cross-sectional study. A lot of risk factors were analyzed in each, bringing us various results. Some factor like range of motion or muscular strength deficit, the story or the intensity of practice have been identified by the authors. However, an important heterogeneity of methods and results need to be noticed from a study to another. It limited our conclusions. Discussion: Although some symptoms have been identified as risk factor by the authors, the proof brought in this review don’t allow us to be certain of their impact. Researches must continue to inform better our medical teams who work with swimmers et give them more work tools to improve their treatments.
