Enseigner l’histoire des femmes et du genre en classe de 4e sur la Révolution

Abstract : Promoted by school programs, the practice of a history which integrating with equally the women’s and men’s roles and experiences of the past, seems to take on an essential role in the training of pupils. How can the history classroom teacher implement this practice of an equal history? The teaching of the Revolution and its contributions to equality and the definition of citizenship is a relevant sequence to conduct the study. How can the history of women and gender enable students to develop more detailed knowledge of the Revolution's contribution to equality while also revealing its limits? How can it be an opportunity to implement the historian's method by working the study from sources? How can this research into the practice of equal history between men and women questions the history we teach and the relationship between school history and citizenship?
