Baby blues. Enquête auprès des accouchées des CHU marseillais

Abstract : Introduction: in the days following the childbirth, until 80 % of women can present a dysphoric postpartum syndrome named the baby blues. Objectives: the main target of this study is to evaluate the frequency of baby blues for the women giving birth in the University Hospital Center in Marseille and to point out the baby blues associated factors which are the most common for mothers. Materials and methods: 105 women have been questioned from the second day after the delivery. Two questionnaires have been distributed, the former anamnestic and the latter which is the « Maternity Blues Questionnary » of Kennerley et Gath. Results: 44% of mothers interrogated have presented a baby blues. The Student and chi2 test and the exact test from fisher, have pointed out significant factors of baby blues such as the fact to have a unexpected pregnancy (p = 0,025), perinea sutures (p = 0,032) and the delivery of a masculine sex new born (p = 0,012). Conclusion: due to the frequency, the fact to take into account the factors promoting the baby blues seem important in order to prevent better, identify and support the mothers.
