Intégration de l’intelligence artificielle et des données de santé pour une médecine de plus en plus personnalisée

Abstract : The healthcare sector is facing new challenges, such as an aging population, an increasing number of people with chronic diseases, and strong pressure from payers and health authorities regarding access to healthcare products. The integration of artificial intelligence in the health field and the use of health data are and will be a way to respond to these different issues. These technologies could be found in decision support tools, therapeutic management of patients, diagnostic support (medical imaging) and/or the prevention of certain pathologies. They are growing exponentially and are increasingly used in day-to-day medicine. The convergence of science, data, analytics and pioneering technologies - both existing and new - is leading professionals in the sector to reinvent themselves and provide new solutions in order to move closer to an increasingly personalized medicine. France has understood the importance of this topic and has set up various initiatives, as we will see through numerous examples. An overview of AI and health data applications in the world and in France will provide an understanding of the evolution of this sector. Then, we will reflect on the use of these technologies in R&D, whether in the search for new drug candidates or in the monitoring and implementation of clinical trials. Indeed, the classical model of R&D must be reviewed today in order to overcome the high costs, as well as the loss of time and the increasing complexity of clinical trials. Finally, this work will focus on the challenges and limits faced by manufacturers developing medical devices integrating AI, in order to access to the market and thus sustain their business through these innovations.
