Caractéristiques démographiques, professionnelles et d’exposition au virus SARS-COV2 des agents de santé travaillant en Dordogne, avec une PCR positive lors de la première vague épidemique

Abstract : Introduction: during the first wave of the pandemic, medical staff have been particularly affected. This study’s main objective is to describe the demographic characteristics, vocations, equipment available and exposure of the contaminated medical staff in the Dordogne region. Material and methods: this is a descriptive, retrospective, monocentric, cross sectional study. The data was collected via phone calls to the medical staff who tested positive from March 15th to April 14th 2020. Results: 43 healthcare professionals from the Dordogne were tested positive over this period of time of whom 30 are included in this case study. The majority of the infected ones (56%) didn’t have access to the gowns. 17% of them didn’t wear masks and, for 10% of them, hydro-alcoholic gel was not available. Finally, 70% of them were working in a highly exposed Covid-19 environment. Conclusion: this study emphasised a possible lack of full protective equipment among many of the COVID-19 contaminated medical staff in the Dordogne area during the first wave of the pandemic. Hopefully, experience will help to improve supply availability and medical team organisation for the remainder of the pandemic.
