Comportement biomécanique des Restaurations Partielles Collées (RPC) sur des dents support de crochets en Prothèse Amovible Partielle Métallique (PAPM)

Abstract : Removable partial denture (RPD) implies the obligation of coronoplasty in order to ensure the prosthetic balance. Thus, we sometimes have to crown teeth to ensure their function of support of clasps. However, the implementation of a crown implies a major tissue loss, which could be avoided by the realization of a partial bonded restoration (PBR). In these circumstances, can these restorations withstand the strenght of an occlusal rest? There are no data concerning this problem in the literature. Therefore, we will try to determine via a review, the biomechanical behaviour of PBR on teeth supporting RPD clasps. For that, we will determine the strength undergoing by a tooth support of clasps, as well as the factors leading to the failure of the PBR, in particular the force they can support. We will then have to determine if the strenght imposed by the RPD can lead to early failures of PBR. The respect of the prothesis design rules avoids that the strenght undergone by teeth supporting clasp are higher than the physiological limits that the dental tissues can support, during the insertion of the prosthesis and its function. These strenght will not induce fracture and debonding of the ceramic PBR if protocols of implementation (thickness, overlap, IDS, clasps at a distance from the limits...) are also respected. Thus, the respect of all these parameters would allow us to consider the realization of a RPD claspsupporting BPR.
