Description de la santé au travail des personnes vivant dans l’Entre-Deux-mers (33) : le point de vue des patients et des professionnels du champ sanitaire et social

Abstract : Introduction: work-related health issues take an ever-increasing part on primary care and healthcare workers need more training on this matter. We decided to launch an investigation that could develop a screening and support program for people with unpleasant working conditions. Our goals were to describe the working health perspective of people living in the Entre-Deux-Mers area (33) and those of their healthcare workers. Materials and methods: this study has two parts. The « patient » study, which is a quantitative survey, includes patients from 5 health centers. The « healthcare workers » study is qualitative and based on an online survey, which was proposed to healthcare workers from the same territory. Results: the « patient » study showed that, on a 146 patients sample, 9 out of 10 were satisfied about their working conditions but 50% described physical pain, 64% described psychic painfulness and 40% expressed a deterioration of working health over time. Out of 98 answers, the « healthcare workers » study showed that 77% often meet people who suffer at work. Main reasons are work intensity, job complexity and poor social relationships. Lack of support and knowledge are also pointed out by the healthcare workers. According to them, patients need a global and local care. Conclusion: suffering at work is a main society concern and with the coronavirus crisis work-related diseases could increase. Developing a screening and support program in the Entre-Deux-Mers area appears as a solution.
