L’exposition au rayonnement ultraviolet solaire : un risque professionnel encore trop négligé. Exploration de représentations et comportements relatifs à l’exposition solaire chez des travailleurs en extérieur

Abstract : In 2020, the global incidence of melanoma and other skin cancers was reported to have increased exponentially over the past fifty years. One of the three cancers diagnosed is the skin cancer and more than 80% of these cancers are linked to excessive exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation. This overexposure is also known as a risk factor for eye diseases such as cataracts in particular. Professionals working outdoors are obviously one of the populations most at risk. The concern of this subject seems unavoidable. Thus, prevention in the workplace of exposure to ultraviolet rays and its effects associated with human health is essential and constitutes a real public health issue. Through an exploratory qualitative survey (semi-structured interviews), the study confirms the results already available in the literature. It highlights certain representations and behaviors relating to solar UV radiation of professionals working outdoors in the Haute-Savoie region (France). This work shed light on the elements to be taken into account in order to put in place concrete and relevant actions in sun prevention in the workplace. It also made it possible to draw up several possible recommendations based on a health promotion approach.
