Le rôle du pharmacien d’officine dans le maintien à domicile de la personne âgée

Abstract : Home care and improvement of the quality of life of the elderly are real public health issues. The pharmacist is not the most visible actor in homecare, but through various actions he plays a key role in ensuring the proper care of the elderly. As the profession evolves, its actions become more diversified. Through their screening role, they can identify and guide fragile elderly people to avoid the falling into dependency. As a drug expert, the pharmacist must be attentive to polymedications, side effects or iatrogenic accidents, which are all overrepresented in the elderly and complicate their home care. The pharmacist is the first health professional questioned by the population on the medical, social and medico-social aspects. They have a central role and must therefore be aware of existing organisations and helpers for the elderly in order to direct them to the appropriate professionals if necessary. The pharmacist has a full role to play in the group of health professionals to detect risks and improve care for the elderly patient.
