Une nouvelle avancée dans le traitement de la migraine: les anti-CGRP

Abstract : Migraine is a disease that concerns 15% of the population, it is characterized by severe cephalgias. It is sometimes complex to recognize the different types of cephalgias : migraine, tension headache, trigeminal neuralgia… According to the OMS, in 2019, migraine was the third disease in term of frequency in the world. Nowadays, several medical and non-medical therapeutics were developed to prevent and treat this pathology. However, despite a large arsenal, some patients remain non-relieved by the existing therapies. A new therapeutic class has emerged these last years : the anti-CGRP. Indeed, an increased level of blood CGRP was noticed during migraine attacks. These new molecules allow a decreased frequency and intensity of migraine attacks by having an effect directly on CGRP or its receptor. Numerous europeans countries, such as Belgium, Portugal, Italia commercialise and use these new treatments. In France, these medicines are recently found in pharmacies. currently, the traitement’s cost comes from 250 to 500 € per month, unfortunately no refund is supported by the french social security system.
