Délivrance gratuite de substituts nicotiniques en pharmacie pendant le « Moi(s) sans tabac » : impact sur le comportement tabagique 1 et 4 mois après

Abstract : Introduction : the action of public health « Moi(s) sans tabac » was declined in the voluntary pharmacies by an association gathering health professionals of the 13th district of Paris.
Objective : the analysis of the behavior of smokers, 1 and 4 months after the delivery of nicotine substitutes in pharmacies of the 13th district of Paris.
Material and method : an interventional study with comparison before / after was conducted with subjects presenting in the pharmacies of the 13th district participating in the operation « Moi(s) sans tabac ». The delivery of nicotine substitutes by pharmacists, who were previously trained by a tobacco specialist, was based on their initial Fagerström. Results : of the 203 eligible subjects for the 1-month evaluation, 163 were interviewed. 33 subjects (20.24%) reported a total cessation of smoking. 52 subjects reported a reduction of more than 50% in smoking (31.9%). No socio-demographic characteristics are significantly associated with smoking cessation. Factors associated with successful withdrawal include permanent cessation at one week of inclusion, continued use of SN, and patient confidence. Of the 139 subjects evaluated at 4 months, 34 subjects (24.46% per protocol analysis) reported a total cessation of smoking and 40 subjects a reduction of more than 50% (28.7% per protocol analysis). The number of cigarettes smoked daily was on average 17 at inclusion, 7.7 at one week, 10.6 at 1 month and 11.5 at 4 months.
Conclusion : the delivery of nicotine substitutes during the « Moi(s) sans tabac » makes it possible to engage 20 to 25% of the subjects in the cessation of the tobacco, and to obtain significant reductions of consumption for 30% of them.
