Évaluation de l’évolution de la qualité de vie des patients âgés de 75 ans et plus traités par chimiothérapie palliative pour un cancer de l’appareil digestif

Abstract : The aging of the population continues, digestive cancers represent an important part of oncology in France, especially in the elderly population. There are few data regarding the quality of life in elderly patients treated with palliative chemotherapy. A single-center prospective study carried out over one year at the Basque Coast hospital with the aim of evaluating the change in the quality of life of patients aged 75 and over before and after 3 months of palliative chemotherapy for digestive cancer. We included 30 patients, 28 completed the study. The results show a stable quality of life after 3 months of palliative chemotherapy, these results encourage treating patients regardless of their age if they are eligible for palliative chemotherapy. However, larger studies are needed to confirm the results obtained in this small population.
