Le délai de signature du procès-verbal pour une demande d'accouchement sous X dans le cas d'un déni de grossesse total : réflexions éthiques

Abstract : A cryptic pregnancy is the non-recognition of a pregnancy after the first trimester and may last until delivery; it is then referred to as a total cryptic pregnancy. In France one out of ten women requesting anonymous deliveries are suffering from cryptic pregnancies. However good practice guides outlining the procedure for anonymous childbirth never mention this anywhere. This guideline theoretically allows a five-day time limit for the woman to sign the report that will acknowledge the renouncement of her rights over the child. In Calvados, it is also the only time when the birth mother can meet the child because once the report is signed, she won't have the right to do so unless she reconsiders her decision. What is the impact of this time limit on women suffering from cryptic pregnancies and what are the repercussions of this on the development of the child? Does the specific case of cryptic pregnancy require an adjusted procedure? This dissertation aims to provide answers to some of these questions in the light of ethical principles.
