Étude du déterminisme et de l'architecture génétique de la réponse au stress hydrique de l'Eucalyptus par l'analyse des micro-fluctuations du rayon du tronc

Abstract : In the context of studying forest plant adaptation to increasingly constrained environments (European H2020 project “B4EST”, N°773383), we studied microdendrometric data (trunk radius variation) at high frequency (subhourly scale) to characterize this adaptation. Moreover, this is motivated by the fact that we seek to understand the changes in rank during the young stage that reflect weak juvenile-adult correlation. We used two different populations: a clonal population (E. globulus) and a population of interspecific hybrids (E. urophylla x E. grandis). On the microdendrometric signal, a multitude of daily traits were extracted in order to isolate hydraulic properties of the plant. These daily traits were then studied over time and in relation to environmental variables (reaction norms) allowing the quantification of genotype-environment interactions (GEI). QTL analyses were also conducted. Interesting results were obtained: i/ correlations between classical growth traits and reaction norms parameters of our daily traits could be highlighted, and ii/ a multitude of QTL could be obtained, some of which present very interesting profiles by their expression pattern and their colocalization with QTL obtained in other studies on stomatal functioning or wood density traits. An important work of deepening and valorization of these results remains to be done.
