La simulation haptique : une nouvelle approche pédagogique en dentisterie restauratrice

Abstract : The development of virtual reality and more specifically of haptic technology has prompted the Brest University of Dentistry to equip itself with two haptic simulators. The main objective of this work is to show the pedagogical interest of haptic simulators in preclinical training in odontology and its integration in the curriculum. After a few reminders on simulation and the evolution of preclinical teaching methods in dentistry, this work presents in detail the Simodont Dental Trainer by Nissin ® simulator chosen by the Faculty of Dentistry of Brest. We have developed a user's guide for the students and an instruction manual for the creation of clinical cases and dexterity exercises. Current scientific research agrees that haptic simulation is a promising pedagogical tool in the pre-clinical training of dentistry students as a complement to conventional teaching methods.
