L’abord du surpoids par les étudiants de troisième cycle en consultation de médecine générale à travers les portfolios

Abstract : Background : The management of overweight patients by students is little described in the literature, unlike that of general practitioners. The objective of this study is to analyze the management of overweight patients by students and their difficulties, through the portfolio. Method : A descriptive and qualitative inductive thematic study was carried out using the portfolios of three classes of general medecine interns from Reunion Island medical school. Results : Students encounter difficulties when consulting overweight patients. The reflective approach of the RSCA allows the acquisition of new knowledge and skills. Thus the interns improve their future care of overweight patients. Conclusion : The portfolio is a tool capable of improving future encounters with overweight patients. The "health communication" competence remains difficult to assess just by reading the portfolio. The portfolios offer a new body of data that can be used for qualitative research in general medicine.
