Compréhension de récit : intérêts et limites de l’utilisation de l’outil audiovisuel

Abstract : Learning to write and speak is fundamental in kindergarten. Reading children's books and telling a story are part of the activities linked to these teachings. The emergence of digital technology and the development of children's literature lead us to compare the level of attention and comprehension of students through the reading of a children's album and the viewing of an animated film. We refer to existing studies on children's books and attention patterns to carry out our research. We set up a research protocol with kindergarten students in a situation of listening to or viewing a children's album, who then proposed a story recall. This study shows that the different components of attention are not activated in the same way when viewing a children's book as when reading it. With regard to the level of comprehension, our research shows small differences. It would therefore be necessary to continue the research with a larger sample and to expand the comprehension activities in order to obtain more relevant results.
