L’apport de la pratique de l’hypnose en cabinet de médecine générale sur le risque de burn-out du médecin généraliste : étude quantitative sur les médecins généralistes français

Abstract : It is a fact today that burnout in physicians is a public health problem, and that given the current practice environment, it was becoming difficult to protect yourself from it. Based on my experience in hypnosis through the completion of the university diploma from the University of Bordeaux, it appeared to me that this practice could appear as a solution to protect against burnout in general practitioner. Few studies had been launched on the subject, however, its foundations concerning the caregiver-patient relationship, as well as its ability to open up new possibilities in care, seemed to me to be essential in order to reduce this breaking point of the practitioner. We therefore embarked on this comparative study with 359 French general practitioners, whether or not practicing hypnosis, with a questionnaire adapted from the Maslach Burnout Inventory, in order to try to demonstrate that the practice of hypnosis in general practice could reduce the risk of burnout in the caregiver. This study mainly enabled us to highlight on numerous biases, particularly methodological ones, common to studies dealing with this subject. But, despite these reservations, we have however shown that the practice of hypnosis is a solution to reduce the march towards burnout. This study has mainly confirmed us in the idea that hypnosis remains a significant tool in the current practice of general medicine, and allows me today to talk to you about it in order, perhaps, to convince some of them to lead the way.
