Étude du niveau d’activité physique et de ses déterminants socio-démographiques et médicaux dans la population d’Aquitaine

Abstract : Objective: to describe the level of physical activity of adults in the former Aquitaine region and the associated socio-demographic, behavioural and medical factors. Methods: cross-sectional epidemiological study of a population of adults living in the former Aquitaine region; based on an online self-administered questionnaire. The IPAQ questionnaire and the Marshall score were used to determine the participants' level of physical activity. Results: according to the IPAQ questionnaire, 29.5% of the 721 subjects surveyed were considered to have a low level of activity and 60.5% of the subjects were considered insufficiently active according to the Marshall score. Several factors were statistically significantly associated with a low level of activity: certain age groups, in particular 30-39 year olds, having dependent children, not being professionally active or not practising in a sports club. From a medical point of view, obese subjects, those taking oral antidiabetics or antidepressants had the lowest activity levels. The Marshall score correlated relatively well with the IPAQ score. Conclusion: while some individual profiles are less likely than others to meet the recommended levels of physical activity, their determination is not sufficient to assess the level of practice. Having a simple and quick tool for early identification in primary care would be useful for implementing targeted actions to get insufficiently active patients moving.
