Étude comparative sur la détermination de l'axe d'insertion en prothèse amovible partielle métallique

Abstract : The determination of the path of insertion in removable partial denture (RPD), after the clinical examination, allows to determine the position of the survey line. This spetp is abandoned by the dentist in favor of the lab technician because it is too complex and/or too much time. The objective of this study was to analyze the reproducibility and efficiency of the results of the "structured" method, developed by the prosthetics team of the University of Bordeaux's Faculty of Dentistry, in comparison with the "traditional" method. These two methods make it possible to determine a prosthetic path of insertion, the design of the RPD framework and the indication for coronoplasties. This technical report presents a surveyor analysis protocol for listing key parameters in a table, such as guide-plane surfaces, interferences, undercut areas and aesthetics. Two groups of students in their final year of dentistry will propose a path of insertion, a design of the RPD framework and a coronoplasty indication for a clinical case using the "traditional" method for the first group, and the "structured" method for the second group. We analysed the choice of path of insertion, the time of the exercise, the choice of design and the choice of coronoplasty. These elements were compared between the two groups. This study showed that this "structured" method allowed, thanks to a respected design logic, satisfactory results in terms of proposed path of insertion, design of the RPD framework and buccal preparations.
