Étude descriptive de l’activité et de la pratique des médecins généralistes en Normandie occidentale dans les zones sous-dotées par rapport aux zones normo-dotées

Abstract : The general practitioner has a pivotal role in the healthcare system, however, there is a decrease in the number of general practitioners in some areas. The aim of our study was to compare the activity and practice of general practitioners in underserved areas compared to normal allocation areas. We conducted a retrospective descriptive from general practitioners in Western Normandy in 2019. The data are individual activity and prescriptions and Remuneration Report on Public Health Objective retrieved from the DRSM according to the undeserved area and normal allocation area. 1182 general practitioners were included in the individual activity and prescriptions study, 1024 in underserved areas, 158 in normal allocation areas for remuneration report on public health objective, 180 treating physicians in underserved area and 1328 in normal allocation area. The population is generally older and more precarious in the underserved zones. The number of consultations remains comparable in the both areas in our study, but the number of home visits is greater in the normal allocation areas. With regard to paramedical prescriptions, there is a higher prescription for physiotherapy in normal allocation areas. Prevention, for influenza vaccination as well as cervical cancer screennings are less carried out in underserved areas. In the case of breast cancer screenings, it would appear that screening is more important in underserved areas than in the other areas. There is a difference in activities and practices in underserved area and normal allocation areas which is also linked to a different population.
