Trouble Déficit de l'Attention avec ou sans Hyperactivité, Troubles des Conduites Alimentaires, surpoids et obésité : association, enjeux diagnostiques et thérapeutiques

Abstract : Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity (ADHD) is a common disorder and associated with many comorbidities, as well as Eating Disorders (ED). Overweight and obesity are currently considered public health issues. The objective of this literature review is to analyze the epidemiological association between these disorders, their common aspects, and the diagnostic and therapeutic issues of their association. A significant association between ADHD, bulimia, binge eating disorder, overweight and obesity was found in both adult and pediatric populations. ADHD seems to be a predictive factor for the development of bulimia and binge eating disorder, as well as obesity. Several common aspects have been identified, clinically, neuropsychologically, neurobiologically and genetically. The comorbidity between ADHD, ED and obesity implies a respective prognostic worsening of each disorder, as well as certain points of therapeutic interest, notably the efficacy of certain psychostimulants in reducing the symptoms of binge eating disorder. The results of this study suggest the need for systematic screening and prevention of bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder, and of eating habits, especially when ADHD is diagnosed, and for close monitoring during follow-up.
