L’inscription au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO et ses effets : le cas des Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne

Abstract : The Climats and the lieux-dits represents the identity of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. These specificities give in the territory the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV). This is the winegrowing and winemaking production model that UNESCO has included on the world heritage list in 4th July 2015. Although it has no legal status, this recognition expresses the will to preserve and enhance the exceptionality of the site. Protection is necessarily based on collective commitment and requires effective management skills and resources at the risk of endangering the property. Sharing, raising awareness, enhancing and federating local actors is UNESCO's motto. An inadequate development projects, a lack of a conservation policy, a domination of economic interests and a standardisation of landscapes are the main struggles that are strongly exposed in the management policy of the territory. Even if the inscription has aroused pride and enthusiasm for the Burgundian population, it is about its impact and repercussions that it raises many questions. Does UNESCO’s "exceptional" philosophy have any limits ?
