Utilisation de la résine infiltrante Icon® (DMG) dans le traitement des fêlures de l'émail : à propos de cas cliniques

Abstract : Context: initially indicated for the treatment of early caries, Icon® infiltrating resin (DMG) has also been shown to be effective in masking unaesthetic anterior spots in MIH cases. But what if it is not the only one? To date, there is no consensus on the treatment of enamel cracks. Some can be hyperesthetic and become a real handicap for the patient. Currently, the means of treating these cracks are the use of sealants or adhesives. Objective: this thesis proposes a new indication for Icon® resin (DMG) in the management of enamel cracks. Methods: three clinical cases are presented on the management of enamel cracks using a modified Icon® (DMG) erosion-infiltration protocol. The medical history, the clinical examination, a diagnostic approach and a therapeutic proposal are set up. A follow-up for each patient is carried out. Results/discussion: patients no longer have tooth sensitivity. Icon® (DMG) is extremely fluid and is mainly composed of low molecular weight monomers allowing an infiltration depth of up to 0.5 mm. Infiltration has also been described as a means of increasing the micro-hardness of the enamel and limiting bacterial colonisation. Conclusion: Resin infiltration is a minimally invasive and effective treatment for the management of symptomatic enamel cracks.
