This dissertation is a microhistorical research based on the BELC archives on the 1959-1980 period. The BELC is a French association then institution initiated by the French ministry of Foreign Affairs and specialized in the French as a foreign language research and teacher training. It is primarily intended to show an outline of the fields of influence evolving around the BELC at this time, the most important being the French educational field of French as a foreign language and more globally the French field of French as a foreign language. This research also tackles the BELC intentionnalities and its links with the French language and culture policies of the period. Finally, this paper analyses the BELC specificities, diversity in its modular offer of educational trainings and structural issues in the given context relating to other FLE institutions, centers, or universities of the 1959-1980 period.
