Estimation des déplacements des piétons à partir des mesures inertielles et GPS d'un smartphone

Abstract : Dead reckoning is a promising technique for pedestrian geolocalisation. It uses inertial measurement of handheld sensors (present in smartphones), it works as well for indoor and outdoor cases and it is autonomous. It consists of determining two components: estimated walking direction and step length. The aim of this work is to improve the step length determination. For that purpose, parameters of a model that combine stride frequency, user's height and step length are calibrated for each person. Two approaches of coupling between inertial and GPS measurements are proposed: a loosely coupling using GPS position and a tightly coupling based on Doppler measurement, known for being less sensitive to multipath especially for slow movement. The error on the travelled distance is significantly reduced using personal parameters in comparison of the use of universal parameters.
