Cartographie des habitats naturels du site Natura 2000 "Gave d'Oloron et Marais de Labastide-Villefranche". Approche et limite de la modélisation d'habitats sur cours d'eau linéaires

Abstract : In the framework of the ecological diagnostic of Natura 2000 River "Gave d'Oloron et Marais de Labastide-Villefranche" (Pyrénées-Atlantique, France), habitat cartography is necessary. Its drainage network is too branched and thick to be entirely crossed. A modeling of this network is made by crossing environmental variables. Thus, it gets hydroecological classification. Previous modeling have allowed some modification: slope variable stand in for geology variable. Others are Strahler order, altitude and the streambed sunshine. Habitats observed into samples are extrapolated to other river sections. Analysis emphasize the role of slope, altitude and streambed sunshine variables onto the determinism of aquatic and riparian vegetation. Thus, extrapolation of the habitats mainly observed is legitimate. A whole validation of this methodology will be possible by new prospecting and confrontation between extrapolated and new data. An improved version could be used in the framework of other Natura 2000 rivers.
