Cancer du sein et soins de support : prise en charge des effets indésirables par les médecines complémentaires

Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common cancer on women in France, 48 800 new cases have been identified in 2012. Breast cancer is the leading cause of death by cancer on women: it is a major public health stake. Therefore, several cancer plans have been settled since 2003. This has enabled a reorganization of cancer care with the raise of supportive care. Considering the patient as a whole is at the heart of this plan whose purpose is to improve the quality of life of the patient. Supportive care include various therapies such as complementary medicines. Those ones are making a major breakthrough in oncology. They are used to reduce the side effects of illness and treatments. Another concerning aspect of the disease is the impact on the patient’s femininity because of the physical and mental consequences. Thus, supportive care will be able to help patients "rebuild" their femininity. The pharmacist, community health actor, can advise! patients for the most appropriate supportive care, according to the side effects experienced, while taking account of current treatments.
