La quête adolescente : construction identitaire de l’adolescent porteur d’un handicap moteur

Abstract : The adolescence marks the transition from childhood to the adult world. The changes both bodily and psychic which is in prey the adolescent force him to mourn his child body. With this begins a teenager quest, whose purpose is to build a personal and strong identity. To do so, the adolescent must reclaim this new body and reinvest it adequately. My encounter with Victor and Baptiste, two adolescents with motor disabilities, instilled in me a lot of questions. Motor disability implies in fact a peculiar relation to the body: the harm mainly physical comes to hinder the vast bodily experience necessary for the harmonious development of the child. This body, generally instrumentalized, object of many treatments, loses the opportunity to experience itself other than in pain. In fact, in this period of life when the body changes are prominent and come shake the certainty of being in the world, what about the construction of identity when these transformations are added to a physical disability? For this paper, I will relate the journey of my reflection which was done at the turn of theoretical elements, but above all of clinical elements that these two teenagers have brought me.
