Attentes des étudiants rennais vis-à-vis des nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication (NTIC) dans la prise en charge de leur santé

Abstract : Context : Student health is a public health issue. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are deeply integrated into the everyday life of students. Objective : To explore students' expectations of ICTs in the management of their health. Method : Qualitative descriptive study by semi-directed individual interviews with 15 students aged 17-21, from May to October 2016. Results : Students wish to benefit from a first medical opinion through ICTs. They favor telemedicine and more specifically teleconsultation to decide whether or not to consult, to reassure and to save time. This expectation is complementary and not in competition with the consultation. Students want access to their medical records, shared with health professionals. They wish to find the documents relating to their health archived by thematic files and declare to see in it a source of active involvement in the management of their health. Students expect general practitioners to use ICT to decompartmentalize their relationship beyond consultation time and expand the scope of its missions to the digital space. Concerning the messages of prevention, they imagine the equivalent of a virtual waiting room, taking again the usual themes of public health. Conclusion : Students expect to have a new relationship with their physicians and their health through ICTs. It is up to physicians to make it a source of strengthening the doctor-patient relationship and empowering the patient in taking charge of his health.
