Le merchandising : définition et application à l'officine

Abstract : The profession of pharmacist is constantly evolving: both in terms of its business model and its field of competences that change and evolve. Pharmacists must integrate these changes and reinvent themselves by developing new services and missions. Formerly a unique dispensing place for sick people, community pharmacies are now health and well-being area where customers come for advices and expertise around many topics of their daily life (nutrition, childcare, beauty ...). The pharmacy team’s knowledge is expanding over time and pharmacies offer a range of products and services where code of ethic and patient health remain the priorities. To be able to give an offer adapted to the environment of each pharmacy, a thorough work must be done to know the interests and needs of the catchment area. Merchandising is a complex process that will help develop products and services from the data collected. It is part of the pharmacies’s development strategy. Merchandising is first and foremost an essential tool for the customer by easying his journey through the sales area since it presents the offer in a clear and attractive way.
