Exposition des infirmières au sexisme à l'hôpital, étude descriptive transversale au sein du groupement hospitalier de territoire Normandie-Centre

Abstract : Sexism is one of the major challenges of the past few years. It is a pervasive issue, present in all social spheres, including hospitals. In our study, based on 315 interviews of nurses working in the Normandy-Center Hospital Group, 69,8 % of nurses were exposed to sexual or sexist comments, mostly in operating rooms. Doctors are the main source of such comments in operating rooms (90,2 %), while patients are in hospitalization services (65,6 %). Nurses mainly reported being annoyed by these comments, but a quarter declared negative consequences on their quality of work-life and/or on their work’s quality. Because these comments are sometimes considered an ingrained hospital tradition, everyone has to recognize sexism and try to improve relationships between men and women inside hospitals.
