Sclérose en plaques : la maladie et les avancées thérapeutiques

Abstract : Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, inflammatory and demyelinating neurodegenerative disease that affects the central nervous system, where the immune system is implicated. It is the first cause of non-traumatic disability in adults. Several factors have been questioned : firstly the role played by genetics but also the influence of environmental factors on the other (such as sunshine, vitamin D, smoking, EBV ...). It is also known that the immune system plays a major role in the onset of the disease, each of its actors having a greater or lesser influence. The research helps to improve our knowledge of this disease and thus to direct research towards new therapeutics, especially for the progressive form for which the health professionals remain deprived. This thesis thus makes an inventory of knowledge of the disease: factors and mechanisms involved in its outbreak to the latest therapeutic advances that continue to improve its medical care.
