Le bactériophage au service de notre santé: phagothérapie, production d’anticorps monoclonaux thérapeutiques par « Phage display » et utilisation diagnostique en tant que détecteur de bactéries

Abstract : Bacteriophages are bacteria viruses found in all environments and in large quantities. Their diversity is exceptional, both in terms of morphology or cycle of infection. Each phage has the essential characteristic of being specific to a species of bacteria, and all these characteristics give them many applications of interest in the health field. The resurgence of resistance to antibiotics has enabled the return of phage therapy, which means "treatment by phages". Numerous researches and clinical trials have thus been successfully carried out. Bacteriophages also allow the production of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies for the cure of much pathology thanks to “Phage display”. Sixteen of these antibodies are available in pharmacies and the pharmacist therefore has an important role to play. Bacteriophages also have a role as bacteria sensors. The phage-bacteria specificity allows the detection of human pathogens in the field of food and water safety and in medicine for the diagnosis of diseases.
