L'éjaculation prématurée et ses traitements en 2019

Abstract : Premature ejaculation is the most common sexual disorder, affecting 20 to 30% of men in the general population. It has remained poorly known for a long time, first because of the absence of a precise and unanimously accepted definition, and second because of a complex multifactorial pathophysiology that remains unclear. Premature ejaculation is an under-diagnosed and under-medicated condition, but its management is progressively improving, through better overall knowledge of the condition by health professionals, and through the recent availability of effective drug therapies. Behavioural psychotherapy remains an important part of treatment, but new molecules and pharmacological families are being developed. Surgical practices could also become a therapeutic option to be considered more seriously, especially in patients most severely affected or dissatisfied with the effectiveness of currently recommended therapies.
