Injection Intra-articulaire de Moelle Osseuse Concentrée Totale autologue chez des patients atteints de rhizarthrose

Abstract : Introduction : The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of an injection of autologous BMAC in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the thumb-first carpometacarpal joint. Materials and Methods : The injections were carried out on 27 thumbs. The bone marrow was aspirated from the iliac crest, concentrated by centrifugation, and then injected under scopic control into the pathological thumb. Evaluation of the results of the injection at the last follow-up was made on average at 16 months post-operatively. We performed a clinical evaluation of the patients by measuring QuickDASH and PRWE scores, pain at rest using a numerical scale (NS), measurement of thumb column abduction using a standard goniometer. Results : QuickDASH and PRWE scores were 59 and 88 respectively in pre-operative and 29 and 50 in post-operative. The average pain at rest improved from 7 to 4. Abduction of the thumb had improved by an average of 18° compared to preoperative data. No post-operative complications were found and two patients had to be operated on due to the ineffectiveness of the injection. Conclusion : These injections appear to be an effective means of delaying the start of a non-conservative surgical treatment.
