Étude ethnobotanique de Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz

Abstract : Vegetable oils are produced in different ways and have many uses in various fields (food, cosmetology, industry for examples…). Some oils are very well known like olive or sunflower oil whereas some others are less known like camelina oil. The camelina oil has a very interesting composition with a low ω6/ω3 ratio. Its richness in ω3 fatty acids makes it an ideal oil for cooking and for seasoning. The ω3 fatty acids provided by food will notably allow better prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In cosmetology, it will be used mainly for its moisturizing properties. In aromatherapy, camelina oil can be considered a dilution carrier. It is also used in the field of biofuels and animal nutrition. Camelina oil has all the qualities necessary to become a well prized oil.
