Toxicité et risque allergique des résines composites : état actuel des connaissances

Abstract : Composite resins have now taken the place of amalgams in the field of restorative dentistry due to their physical, mechanical and aesthetic properties. Despite their many advantages, their potential toxicity remains a topical issue and concerns all practitioners in their daily practice. Indeed, the release of monomers present in the organic matrix of composite resins can cause various toxic reactions in the patient but also in the dentist. Recommendations during the bonding protocol must then be observed in order to limit the release of these monomers and thus reduce the toxic risks. New monomers are being developed to overcome this problem and increase the biocompatibility of composite resins.
