Relation à l’éthique : point de vue des ergothérapeutes libéraux

Abstract : Introduction: Ethics is a rational and critical reflection to determine what is right, just or virtuous to do in a given situation. In recent years, ethics has become an integral part of private occupational therapy practice. Indeed, the private occupational therapist is an independent professional. This freedom exposes her to many ethical situations. A good mastery of this discipline is essential to guarantee a quality practice. Therefore, the aim of this dissertation was to observe the perception of ethics by private occupational therapists and thus to make an assessment of the relationship between these two themes. Method: A questionnaire was used to obtain a sample of 40 participants. All of them were private occupational therapists. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data was then carried out. Results: Numerous subjects were questioned: the definition of ethics, its place in the occupational therapy curriculum, ethical reflection, as well as the means that link these two themes. The responses showed that occupational therapists in private practice are not sufficiently aware and prepared to use ethics in practice. Conclusion: Further studies are needed to confirm the observations. Nevertheless, the results allowed us to target the weak points in the relationship and to indicate those that need to be worked on to facilitate the private practice of occupational therapy.
