Éthique en expérimentation animale : vers une évolution de la règle des 3R

Abstract : Ethics in animal experimentation has become a major concern in our current society, which takes animal suffering more into account. In recent years, many laws have been developed in favor of the protection of animals used for scientific purposes, both at European and national level, as well as for the implementation of the 3R rule according to RUSSELL and BURCH: reduce, refine and replace. After having reviewed the different methods allowing the application of this 3R rule, we are going to study here the existing alternative / substitute methods which now allow this 3R rule to evolve towards a 4th or even a 5th R. that is, the reuse and rehabilitation of laboratory animals.
