L'image de l'Allemagne dans le journal Le Matin entre mars 1932 et août 1934, une impossible compréhension de l'altérité ?

Abstract : The following study aims to analyze a picture of Germany from the presidential elections of March 1932 to President Hindenburg's death in 1934. That description was proposed by the newspaper Le Matin to its readers. Some questions must be raised to analyze that representation. Is the daily's interest in the political, economical and social evolution of the German's Reich important or secondary? Does Germany often make the headline of that newspaper? If there is the confirmation of such an interest, is the Reich described as a nation a durable peace is possible with? Or, on the contrary, is it most of the time seen as a traditional enemy? To answer all of these questions, a detailed study of the daily Le Matin, which is the main source, is necessary. It was one of the newspapers the most sold until the end of WWI. Yet, its influence had been decreasing since the beginning of the 20s. The three years, which are the framework of our analysis, are a turning point in Germany's evolution as they symbolize the growing influence of the Nazi Party. They symbolize as well Adolf Hitler's ascension since he came to power on 30th January 1933. Did the Matin's reporters anticipate the Hitlerism's dangers? Or did they prefer to ignore them as a great number of early 30s' politicians did?
