Développement durable en Méditerranée : une analyse économique de la gestion des déchets municipaux en France

Abstract : This study is a contribution to the improvement of municipal waste management in France as a matter of environmental issues as well as of public finance. Its purpose is twofold. The first is to assess the impact of the quality of the final consumption of French households on the fluctuation of the amount of municipal waste generated. The second objective is to determine to what extent the financing of waste management may allow a reduction of environmental impacts and pressures on public finances. The available data on waste quantities did not permit us to measure the impact of consumption patterns of French households on the fluctuation of waste generated. By cons, in terms of funding, the "unit pricing" at the household level combined with an eco tax on producers by the degree of pollution of each process of municipal waste management, has appeared, at the end of our analysis, to be an optimal policy of municipal waste management
