Abstract : Low back pain and girdle pelvic pain is common during pregnancy. Indeed, they occur in about 45 % of women which around 25 % where the pain will persist into the postpartum period. Often considered as part of "minor ailments of pregnancy", they appear as a minor symptom for most of consultants. Hence, many women feel a lack of consideration and deplore the lack of treatment. Due to the existence of few therapeutic solutions allowed during the pregnancy period, the main objective of this study is to evaluate acupuncture as a way for allaying low back and girdle pelvic pain of pregnancy. A semi-experimental prospective study "before-after" was conducted from 52 double questionnaires distributed in three maternities in "Ile-de-France". This study has demonstrated that acupuncture has a concrete effect in the short and medium term with regarding to the painful symptoms, but only a short-term effect on improving functional disability was demonstrated. On the other hand, there are insufficient data to assess women's experiences about the acupuncture treatment although the trend is quite satisfactory. The results of this study are rather in favor of efficiency and a positive assessment of the treatment of low back and girdle pelvic pain of pregnancy helped by acupuncture. However, the results must be considered with caution due to the low sample size (quantity). Acupuncture can nevertheless be considered and proposed as a treatment for low back and girdle pelvic pain of pregnancy.
