Le corps biométrique dans la relation État/Administrés

Abstract : The aim of our research project was to define the representations of the biometric body in the relationship between the State and the citizens. Based on communications issues related to biometric body, we set up a thematic content analysis of speeches of some players in the public sphere. We then highlighted the overrepresentation of two themes related to biometric technologies: security and technology. Our two hypotheses, which postulated an overvaluation of the security aspect in the first case and a mutation of the biological body to a biometric body or "body-machine" in a second case, have been validated. In addition, we found some causes for the emergence of these two themes: technologization of modern society; risk control and control of the future by the State; evolution of social mediations and interpersonal relationships, etc. Finally, we discovered the emergence of new themes related to biometrics: economy, protection of personal data and citizen participation.
