UNICEF: an organization promoting women's rights: the role of the gender and rights unit

Abstract : This thesis aims to analyze how UNICEF, an organization originally dedicated exclusively to children's rights, has throughout its history and all of these decades progressively recognized gender equality and the empowerment of girls and women's rights as a cornerstone of its mandate. In addition, this thesis examines to what extent the Gender and Rights Unit ensures the promotion and implementation of the UNICEF's gender equality policy throughout the organization and what kind of mechanisms have been developed at the headquarter level to ensure its operationalization.
