"Évaluation de l'exposition professionnelle à l'Ethylène glycol n Butyl Ether et son acétate"

Abstract : Glycol alkyl ether are solvents present in numerous products. Studies indicate EGME, EGEE and their acetate present a medullar and reproductive toxicity. They were replaced with EGBE (ethylene glycol butyl ether) and 2PG1ME. The purpose of this study was to drawn the use of ethylene glycol derivatives glycol alkyl ether in Haute-Savoie and to quantify level exposure of workers to EGBE and EGBEA. Occupational exposure to EGBE and EGBEA was estimated for 127 exposed workers, by urinary monitoring of butoxyacetic acid (BAA) and atmospheric monitoring. Levels of occupational exposure to EGBE and EGBEA in Haute-Savoie companies were low. But exposures are daily, prolonged and several. The urinary monitoring of BAA is a sensitive dosage taking cutaneous and respiratory absorption into account.
