La presbyphagie : le vieillissement de la déglutition : plainte et vécu des personnes concernées

Abstract : This study is about presbyphagia which is the term used to describe swallowing difficulty associated with aging. Although age does not have any significant impact on the swallowing function, some elderly people report difficulties. We wanted to evaluate the impact of such problems on their quality of life. To achieve this, we have interviewed 12 healthy elderlies, aged between 78 and 95 years, complaining about swallowing difficulties so as to assess the difficulties they reported, the way they were coping with them and, when possible, the perception their families and friends had of their problems. This allowed us to reflect on the help that may be provided by speech therapists.
