Calcul de l'écoulement de Stokes en coordonnées elliptiques planes. Application à l'écoulement autour de fibres de section elliptique avec prise en compte de l'orientation de la fibre

Abstract : The topic Calculation of the Stokes flow with elliptic coordinates. Application to flow around fibers with elliptical cross section taking into account the orientation of the fibers can contribute to the analysis of the influence of the fiber orientation of the characteristic quantities such as flow rate and pressure. The knowledge of these quantities as a function of the geometry of the flow field can be calculated macroscopic quantities such as permeability. We're looking at first the solution of the Stokes equation in elliptical plane coordinates in terms of stream function. This theoretical solution shows the existence of recirculation. Was then analyzed using flow simulations Comsol fibers between two elliptical and according to their inclination angle (angle between a horizontal plane and the longitudinal section plane containing the major axis). Recirculation cells are identified for some values of angle. These cells disappear below a critical angle. Permeability of a periodic arrangement of the porous medium formed of such fibers is calculated as a function of the angle by combining the results of the equation of Stokes and Darcy's equation.
