Attitudes linguistiques : définitions, implications et application à l'anglais

Abstract : This work makes a thorough inventory of the different definitions and notions that are linked to the field of language attitudes since much interest have had been attached to them in the 1970's. This inventory is added by the enlightening and the explanation of the most common language attitudes between French speakers and British English speakers, as well as towards their own language. Are also studied in this work the main causes for the adoption of classical attitudinal recations that are purism and normativism. A great part of this dissertation deals with the methodology of research in the field, and finishes with the application of some of them.
